To Whom It May Concern:

This letter respectfully requests your generous financial support of any amount up to US$225,000 for our organizing a workshop to initiate Global University System at our University of Tampere, Finland in the early month of 2005 (tentative).

Now, in a world beset by terrorism and unequal distribution of resources, it seems more imperative than ever to educate a generation of leaders who can build a higher level of humanity with mutual understanding across national and cultural boundaries for global peace. For many decades Dr. Takeshi Utsumi, Founder and Vice President for Technology and Coordination, had dreamed of creating a non-profit Global University System (GUS) that can provide this kind of education in developing countries.

The mission of GUS is to help higher educational institutions in remote/rural areas of developing countries to deploy student access to broadband Internet and act as the knowledge center of their community for the eradication of poverty and isolation. The core curriculum of a GUS education will promote world prosperity, justice, and peace, based on moral principles rather than political or ideological doctrines. Education and job skills are the keys in determining a nation's wealth and influence, and GUS would create flexible and relevant curricula by making arrangements with universities around the world that provide Internet-based courses.

Over the years a team of collaborators from around the world have joined together to advance this dream, which has reached a stage where we can plan implementation. We have conducted many globally based technology testing workshops and have developed a series of concept papers in our recent book, Global Peace Through The Global University System.

The entire content of this book can be retrieved at;

We believe that your organization might share some of our aspirations and be willing to help make this dream a reality. Our next step is to conduct a 5-day workshop on implementation planning at GUS headquarters at the University of Tampere, Finland. Here we will gather world leaders in Internet-based education and the GUS leadership to develop a business plan and academic programs for launching the GUS.

Enclosed is a synopsis of the workshop and the anticipated budget. We look forward to answering any questions and to working with you to make GUS a reality.

Very sincerely yours,
