Dear Prof. Utsumi-san:

Thank you for yours.

Thank you for referring me to the location of my background paper at the EGEDL website. My colleague (Kofi Anani, also of Guelph) and I have synthesized some concrete projects on communications, healthcare, education and indigenous organizations and values, originally with the Africa Telemedicine Project, which has some relationship with the Economic Commission for Africa (through Oryema Johnson). That means we have a team of educationists and others, both in Africa and the West, to rely on. Also, if we began with the draft of that proposal, put in the hardware requirements, and a time-line and budget, we can begin to solicit the funds necessary to begin testing models in these areas, within a focused area in Africa. In the next few days, we would review that proposal once more ourselves here and send it to you subsequently.

I am also hoping to discuss these issues thoroughly with the Science and Technology Coordinator of the Constituency for Africa when I meet him and others in Washington on September 15. Therefore, I hope to send you the proposal very soon.

Your colleague, Prof. Parker Rossman, has been in touch with my colleague and it shows us that minds can actually converge.

Thanking you,

John Afele
