2. Editorial

"The mind, once expanded to the dimension of larger ideas, never returns to its original size", wrote Oliver W. Holmes. Following are three short contributions each attempting to expand our ideas of the possible. The three authors are members of GLOSAS as well as independent thinkers, visionaries and researchers.

• Dr. Utsumi, Chairman of GLOSAS/USA and president of Global University is also Board memeber of WAUSE. He has written over one hundred scholarly articles and has been the motor force behind GLOSAS efforts to build a global telecommunications infrastructure for educational purposes. Here he describes the recent "Global Lecture Hall" (TM) organized by WAUSE and GLOSAS which originated in Lecce, Italy.
• Dr. Mario De Blasi is President of the World Association for the Use of Satellites in Education (WAUSE). His brief article describes the recent establishment of WAUSE under the auspices of the Community of Mediterranean Universities.
• Dr. Norman Coombs, a professor at Rochester Institute of Technology, is an award winning pioneer in the use of computer communications by the handicapped. He has presented papers on this subject at a number of international gatherings. Himself blind, Dr. Coombs has used computer communications for delivery of his courses.

Following is Dr. Utsumi's personal and inimitable report of the latest GLOSAS "Global Lecture Hall" teleconference which was organized in cooperation with WAUSE (World Association for the Use of Satellites in Education) during the Computer Architecture Conference held 24-26 October, 1991 at the University of Lecce, School of Engineering, Lecce, Italy.
