There are one-story intellects, two-story intellects, and three- story intellects with skylights. All fact collectors who have no aim beyond their facts are one-story men. Two-story men compare, reason, generalize, using the labor of the fact collectors as their own. Despite Judge Holmes' failure to include the female intellect, being a woman has never prevented Dr. Barbara Kurshan from being equally at home on all three levels of his three-story structure. An avid collector of facts about computer networks, "Bobbi" has just as keenly analyzed and compared them in drawing her generalizations and has assumed a leading role in theorizing about how networks might develop or what they might be useful for in the future.
This issue's feature article, "The Global Classroom: Changing the Way We Learn and Teach" is by Bobbi Kurshan of Educorp Consultants. A member of GLOSAS, Bobbi is an eminent researcher and promoter of networking. She has delivered papers in every corner of the globe and has recently completed three authoritative network surveys. Her article here is merely a sample; the reader is urged to consult her longer works which are available electronically from addresses given below.
