Dear Electronic Colleagues
-- particularly Roger, Bob, Renee, David, Steve, John, Ninfa/Bob, and Shin:

(1) In recent listserve distributions, I inadvertently left your security
numbers in the draft of our NSF travel grant application for our mini-workshop in Manila, as the application requires it.

This should not be left in them and I apologize this mistake.

Dear John Hibbs:

Many thanks for your suggestion which I received from Roger Boston today.

Dear Steve:

In my following msgs to you, I will send following files. Pls
replace the old ones:

1. Information necessary for NSF travel grant application -
January 23, 2000

2. Manila Mini-Workshop Plan - February 2, 2000

3. Draft of Travel Grant Application to the National Science
Foundation for the Manila Mini-Workshop -- 1 of 5: Travel
Grant Application / 2 of 5: Workshop Schedule /

3 of 5: Grant Nominees /

4 of 5: Philippine Counterparts /

5 of 5: GUS in the Philippines Pilot Project Proposal

- February 16-17, 2000

(2) About the dates of the mini-workshop in Manila, I requested its
postponement to Teresita from the originally scheduled on March 29 to 31
to some other dates. I have not heard from her yet -- see ATTACHMENT I.

(3) As you also see in ATTACHMENT I, Kim will finish and submit the
application to the NSF as soon as we hear the new dates from Teresita.

Once again, my apology for my mistake.

Best, Tak

Dear Tak,
You must be a mind-reader...on top of all the other amazing things that you
do. I was just getting ready to write you an email regarding the Manilla
dates. Elaine and I have been working on the NSF grant proposal and have
most of it close to being finished. I still have to add the budget. I will
add the other things that you sent today.

My concern was with the date. First of all, I cannot attend on those dates
and I would very much like to participate. More importantly, I was worried
about the lateness of the proposal and the chance the NSF would not fund on
such short notice.

We will continue to work on the proposal and will wait to hear from you on
dates. The other missing piece is a letter from the international
parter...last time we had a letter from Tapio and we will need something
similar from the Philippines.

It sounds like you had a very productive meeting with Mr. Wells. Thank-you.

All best wishes,
