Dear Raj:
=========

(1)  Many thanks for your msg (ATTACHMENT I).

     I am very happy to hear that you can now provide us with your  in-kind"
     videoconferencing bridge service for the telemedicine demonstration
     during our mini-workshop in Manaus, Amazona, Brazil on May 31st.

          Detailed information on the conference can be found at;
          <http://www.argo.com.br/~alex_mau/workshop/workshop.htm>.

          Pls also see  Draft of Travel Grant Application to the NSF for the
          Manaus Mini-Workshop - March 30, 2000" at;
          <http://www.kagawa-jc.ac.jp/~steve/global-univ-2000.html>.

(2)  Time required for the bridge is;

     From 6:30 pm to 9:00 pm (Manaus time), including testing time from 6:30 to 7:00 pm.

     (a)  From 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm of May 31st (Manaus time);

          a live telemedicine echocardiography will be demonstrated at the
          conference.  An echocardiograph signal of a patient on a tread
          mill in Manaus (with 3D imaging of his heart which can be cut into
          a half to examine its inside) will be sent to doctors at the
          University of Michigan for diagnosis, in order to open the eyes of
          local decision-makers for the value of broadband approach.  The
          images will be disseminated to the participants around the world
          via ISDN and Internet.

          This will be accomplished through Amazonas resources, Agilent
          Technologies echocardigram and video conferencing equipment and
          transmitted via EMBRATEL satellite.  We believe that tele-learning
          and tele-medicine should be two wheels of a cart, since each alone
          cannot be economically sustainable.

     (b)  From 8:00 pm to 9:00 pm of May 31st (Manaus time);

          a videoconferencing will be held to show a wonderful features of
          Tennessee Renaissance Center -- particularly of its splendid
          planetarium with staggering laser show of universe and
          constellations in space.  We hope the center will devise a way so
          that a children in Manaus can control the show via Internet.

(3)  The U.S. counterpart is the University of Michigan.  Mr. Timothy
     Pletcher will be in charge of this event there.  He or someone else of
     the university will be in Manaus to take care of technical assistance to
     hook up your Sonos 5500 with a PictureTel unit via 384 Kbps ISDN line.

          The person who is organizing the workshop and demonstration in
          Manaus is Alex.

(4)  Your Agilent Technology people in Brazil (Rogerio Micheletto and/or
     Mariana Tolovi) will kindly bring S4 Transducer, Sonos 5500, 500 Mhz CPU
     (from HP) and other necessary equipment to the workshop.

(5)  Expected participants of this videoconferencing are (though some are still tentative);

     Dear Gayle, Jose, Renee and Sri:
     ================================

     Pls confirm your participation ASAP, if you wish to view this demo.

Dear Electronic Colleagues:
===========================

(6)  Should you wish to view this demo, pls let me know ASAP, though I am not
     sure if Agilent's videobridge can accommodate how many of you.

     The requirements are PictureTel (or compatible unit) and ISDN line at
     384 Kbps.  If you are accepted to join, you need to call the videobridge
     which will be assigned later, i.e., you need to be responsible for the
     call/connection of your unit to the bridge.

(7)  As you might have noticed in the web site of this workshop mentioned
     above, there will be many important delegates in healthcare and
     telemedicine areas (among others);

     (a)  Association of the Amazonian Universities (UNAMAZ) -- which is a
          consortium of 77 universities in 8 countries in Amazon area,
     (b)  World Health Organization (WHO),
     (c)  Pan American Health Organization (PAHO),
     (d)  PanAmerican Federation of Associations of Medical Schools -- which
          is a consortium of all medical schools in Latin America.

Dear Raj:
=========

(8)  Thank you very much, indeed, for your willingness to take care of this event.

     BTW, pls inform me your current snail mail address -- is your phone
     number correct? -- we may need to call you in the future in an emergency situation.

     I shall wait for your phone call tonight.

Best, Tak

Dear Dr. Utsumi:

I am trying to find a suitable way to provide the videobridge for your
telemedicine demonstration from Manaus in May. I understand that the venue has
changed to University of Michigan from New York. Which doctor or the fcaulty
member are you working with at Michigan? I would like to know the current
situation and your requirements.  Could you please let me know what is the
exact time for the telemedicine demo and how many sites you would like to
connect using the videobridge. I would like to call you tonight to get all all
the details. If I fail to do so, please send me an e-mail with all the details.

Thanks very much,

Sincerely yours,

Raj Gururaja
