Dear Dr Utsumi,

Greetings from the University of the South Pacific, Laucala
Campus, Suva, Fiji. I hope this finds you in good health.

I write on behalf of the Deputy VC to invite you to a roundtable
meeting we are holding to discuss strategies and plans to make
the best use of our new satellite network, USPNet. You may not be
aware of it, but this fully owned network is about to commence
operations (January-Feb 2000). It will have audio, data, and video
components/transmission facilities and will link the 12 member
countries of the university. The university has two other campuses
(Samoa and Vanuatu) and 12 Centres around the region.

In preparation for this, we formed a USPNet Education group and
decided to hold a roundtable meeting to formulate strategies and to
make plans. To this meeting we are inviting people like yourselves
who would be able to help us crystalise our thoughts into a
workable plan of action.

Your background and expertise has been brought to our attention
(by Richard Wah, Head of Distance Education at USP) and it is felt
that you would be eminently suitable to provide us with a guiding
light in our discussions.

The meeting is to be held on 29 November -1st December 1999
here in Suva. I hasten to add my sincere apologies for this short
notice but to say that despite this, I hope you would find the time
to come.

Should you agree to join us, the university will mee the cost of your
airfares and a daily per diem at the UN rate of FJD$192.00.

I look forward to hearing back from you and obviously I should be
most grateful for your early reply.

Yours sincerely,

Ruby Vaa
Organiser, USPNet Roundtable meeting
