Dear Mohamed, Waguih, Ahmed:
============================

(1)  It was my great pleasure to have met with you at the TeleLearning* NCE99
     in Montreal last week, at the kind introduction of Jusri.

     I was also very delighted to hear of your strong interest in our Global
     University System project.

          Dear Mohamed:
          =============

          Pls tell Waguih that his email address bounced off, and ask him to
          inform me his correct address.

(2)  You may contact Bob Gordon.  His organization is the oldest and largest
     which receives funds from the US Information Agency for Fulbright
     exchange program.  He is conducting a large training program in Cairo
     with 80 or so staffs.  Albeit his wish, his organization hasn't done any
     distance education yet.

(3)  You may contact Effat El Shooky -- see ATTACHMENT I.

     As you see, they are already conducting a successful distance learning
     program with the fund from the InfoDev.

(4)  You may also contact Renee Ebert -- see ATTACHMENT II.

          Dear Renee:
          ===========

          Many thanks for your msg.

(5)  In our GUS, we don't have a group in North America which will act as the
     administrative center for Arab countries.

     Should you be interested in doing so, pls let me know.

     Pls visit Proposed Outline of the Global University System Structure
     <http://www.kagawa-jc.ac.jp/~steve_mc/asia-pacific/maui.html> for the
     functions of the administrative center.

     Pls visit PART II of the Outline of Report to InfoDev at
     <http://www.friends-partners.org/GLOSAS/Tampere_Conference/Final_Report/Tampere_Event/Final_Report.html>.

You can find the draft proposals of the pilot projects for each regional group.
I look forward to receiving your response.

Keep in touch.

Best, Tak

Dear Effat El Shooky,

Thank you for your inquiry. Yes - we had a very succesful conference and
workshop on "Emerging GlobaÓl Electronic Distance Learning" at Tampere
Ujiversity this August. Dr. Takeshi Utsumi and myself are just finalizing
our final report to InfoDev. You may have a look at our conference page:

Subject: Re: Synopsis of Global University System

Dear Tak:

Thank you once again for keeping me apprised of all that you are
accomplishing in moving distance learning forward toward a global realization.

I would like to attend the very next meeting where telehealth is one of the
main issues discussed as the UCLA School of Public Health is making progress
in distance learning and would like to share our efforts with all of you.
Would you alert me as to any meetings planned for this?

UCLA will broadcast to Cairo's Ministry of Health in mid December through
LoralSkyNet, and anticipates a winter or early spring broadcast as well.
Internet connectivity via satellite is one component as are live lectures.
Our mission is to create the opportunity for virtual classroom and libraries
to support an accredited program.

Best wishes.  Look forward to hearing from you soon.
