Dear Gilles:
============

(1)  Many thanks for your msg (ATTACHMENT I).

     Sorry you cannot make this time.

(2)  This is the reminder of our mtg at PAHO (Bob Rodrigues' office) at 525
     Twenty-third Street in Washington NW on 12/20th (Monday) from 9:00 am.

(3)  The agenda of our discussions will be the followings;

     (a)  Current status of regional activities:

Dear Ron:
=========

(4)  Many thanks for your msg (ATTACHMENT II).

     I am very glad to hear of your complete recovery.

Dear Bob, David, Peter, Lane, Gary, Joe, Ken, and Myron:
========================================================

(5)  Let's discuss on 12/20th about the possibility of having a follow-up mtg
     in D.C. after January 24th.

     I hope that Gilles can join to brainstorm how to have Japanese
     government's involvement, basing on Lane's preliminary proposal which I
     hope he will come up by then, basing on our discussion on 12/20th.

Dear Kim, David and Ron:
========================

(6)  After this mtg after 1/24th, we may visit Phelps-Stokes Fund in NYC
     together to describe our Native American community project -- Ron was
     one of its board members once before.

          Dear Mr. Wilbert Le Melle:
          ==========================

          We were sorry we could not make our visit last October.  I will
          inform you as soon as we decide to visit you after January 24th.

(7)  If I receive any words from Frank Mayadas, I will inform you and let's
     arrange our visit after January 24th -- Kim, your previous msg said that
     you cannot make our 12/20th mtg but can schedule to come to DC late January.

          Dear Frank:
          ===========

          We look forward to hearing from you soon.

Dear Myron:
===========

(8)  Ben recently called me saying that you are arranging a visit by you, Ben
     and me to your friend, Mr. Negroponte, Senior Vice President for
     International Affairs at McGraw Hill in NYC (a brother of world renowned
     scholar at MIT and a former Ambassador to Philippines).  I once met Mr.
     Thomas J. Sullivan, Senior Vice President for Corporate Planning there
     who was a friend of my Ph.D. professor.

     This visit may also be configured after January 24th.

Best, Tak

Dear Tak: Thank you for the telephoned invitation to meet with you and
David Johnson in New York on or around December 20th. Regrettably I will
not be available as I will be away. I am nearly completely recovered from
surgery and expect to be back at work as of January 24th, 2000. As David
may have mentioned to you, I have worked to advance Native American causes
for many years and would be interested in that aspect of the project.
I send best regards and look forward to productive conversations in the new
year and millenium.
- Ron Wells
