(2) Dear Ralph, Steve, Moti:
========================
Ben told me over the phone a few days ago that he is now
up to his neck
with the financial matters of his newly acquired building.
In addition
to that, he seems learning a lot about the international
politics and
diplomacy thanks to the prime location of his building just
across a
street from the main building of the United Nations in Manhattan.
On October 25th, he will hold an open house of the building
and expect
to have many diplomats to the United Nations from various
countries,
including the Secretary General of the U.N., too. On October
26th, he
will also have a similar open house for Japanese politicians
and
delegates from Japan (almost 100 of them).
During our Tampere event, Ben told us that he would take
me and Norman
Okamura to Tokyo and Manila for our further discussions on
the
Asia/Pacific operation. It seems that this deal has been
postponed.
(3) Dear Ben:
=========
Pls let me know your new schedule for the trip ASAP, since
many people
are waiting for us in Japan and Manila and also since our
time for your
Tokyo workshop next April (or May) is getting very short.
Best, Tak

Dear Tak -
You really had a very successful Tampere conference and all
vthe hard work
and inspiration of the past 20 years are beraring much fruit.
May it
prosper always. When are you coming to Manila so I can reserve
the dates
and meet with you? I am getting interested in your work and am
starting to
seriously read up on it. More power, Tak. With best wishes and
regards,
Ralph

Esteemed Sir,
Thank you kindly for your immediate reply. I'm glad to hear
that the Web
page meets with your approval. Dr. Utsumi wishes to visit Tokyo
and
Manila as soon as possible, but to do so he needs the assistance
of the
Foundation for the Support of the United Nations (FSUN), whose
Chairman
plans to bring Dr. Utsumi to the FSUN Tokyo and (new) Manila offices.
The Chairman has been tied up with unavoidable business in New
York
City, so we are waiting to find out when they will visit. Perhaps
the
FSUN Manila office can liaise with you and WIF in Manila when
needed,
although you have mentioned a Columbo, Sri Lanka office as well.
Allow
me to relay your concern to Dr. Utsumi. I'm sure that our ideals
are in
agreement and that much more can be done as we communicate more
closely
from now on. By all means let me know if there is anything further
we
should know, or if I may otherwise be of any help.
Respectfully yours,
Steve McCarty

Subject: Finland conference
Peter, the last time we talked was around when I concluded
that
voluntarism needs a worthy cause. Yet despite becoming more selective,
on top of taking care of the World Association for Online Education,
I
am almost unworthy of assisting Dr. Takeshi Utsumi's Global University
System. From here in Japan I studied the information surrounding
the
University of Tampere EGEDL Conference, without benefit of the
hands-on
workshop experience. Actually I am located on a rural outer island
far
from Tokyo. Some years from now when that kind of tele-learning
and
tele-medicine technology arrives here, thanks to the conference
information I'll be able to hit the ground running, and I believe
many
people around the world will experience something similar following
the
blueprints set out so clearly by Dr. Utsumi with his background
in
engineering.
Collegially,
