(1) Dear Timo:
==========
I just visited your newly constructed web site of the
handout of our
Tampere event at <http://hoklpc25.uta.fi/egedl/outline/>.
This is very nice. Thank you very much indeed!!
One suggestion:
At the bottom of the left column, you may draw a
dividing line,
and add the following below the line;
Follow-up workshops:
Tokyo in April (or May), 2000
and make it clickable to Steve McCarty's following
web site;
<http://www.kagawa-jc.ac.jp/~steve_mc/asia-pacific/index.html>.
Dear Ihor:
==========
You may start constructing a web site for the mini-workshop
at the
Open University in the U.K. and your workshop in 2001,
as
following the suite of Steve.
Dear Timo:
==========
You may then add Ihor's workshop web site below the
Tokyo workshop
later.
(2) Dear Mr. Linna:
===============
I would like to express my sincere thanks for your very
inspiring
opening remark appeared in this web site. I read it with
great
interest. We were very lucky to have our highly successful,
epoch-making event thanks to extraordinary cooperation of the
people at the
University of Tampere in the most advanced Internet society
of Finland.
We hope that the event could be the stimulating factor to
your
furthering network based life-long learning with international
collaboration.
Dear Tapio:
===========
I can now understand why you are eagerly enthusiastic
to create
our Global University System along with the nation wide
virtual
university which Mr. Linna mentioned.
Dear Dr. Ishida and Prof. Sakamoto:
===================================
Pls convey Finnish approach with true networking
for Education
for All" to the Japanese Ministry of Education.
The future of
education in Japan should also be based on Internet
as Finnish are
now forging ahead.
(3) Dear Marco:
===========
Thank you very much for your excellent keynote speech
Objectives and
Institutionalization of the Global University System."
It is very
interesting and valuable as the summary of what you did at
the UNESCO in
the last decade. Let's make our Global University System
prepare global
citizens of the 21st Century with greater solidarity, openness,
equity
and international cooperation and with respects on their
individual
culture and social identities. For this, we would like to
expect your
talented diplomatic help for mobilizing all stakeholders
of all
continents" to achieve our goal with the seven (7)
Cs" you listed,
i.e., more Connectivity, more Community, more Capacity, more
Content,
more Creativity, more Collaboration, and more Cash.
(4) Dear Electronic Colleagues:
===========================
I strongly suggest that you read Mr. Linna's and Marco's
transcripts at
this web site.
Marco was the main organizer of the World Conference
on Higher
Education (WCHE) held in 5 to 9 October, 1998 in Paris
with more
than 4,000 attendees from all over the world, as setting
the
vision and action of the higher education in the 21st
Century.
Dear Marco:
===========
There was a typo, saying that it was held in
1999, instead
of 1998.
(5) Dear Mr. Elovainio:
===================
It was our great pleasure and honor to have had your session
keynote
speech during our Tampere event. It was very informative.
My wife and I express our sincere thanks for your generosity
of giving
us the complete CD-ROM set of your country's famous composer,
Sibelius'
symphonies. After our event, we visited his park in Helsinki
and took
several photos under a very unique sculpture. I am enjoying
listening
his great music as writing this msg.
BTW, I cannot find the transcript of your speech in the
above mentioned
web site. Should you have kept it, pls send to Timo so that
he will
include in this handout web site. This handout will be attached
to our
report to the InfoDev of the World Bank which financed our
event.
Therefore, I would like to make it as complete as possible,
and also I
wish your speech would be available to our colleagues around
the world.
Best, Tak
