ATTACHMENT II from Kimberly K. Obbink

(2) Dear David:
===========

Thanks for the info (ATTACHMENT I). Yes, I read it with great
interest.

(3) ATTACHMENT III is the tentative schedule and agenda of the
Strategic
Meeting on Fund Raising for Global University System (Asia/Pacific,
Latin America, and Africa Regions).

Dear Bob Rodrigues:
===================

Many thanks for your offer of the conference room.

I am also very glad that you can attend this mtg.

(4) Dear Kim:
=========

Many thanks for your msg (ATTACHMENT II). I am very glad you can
attend
this mtg.

David and I are now working to utilize your time at maximum as
visiting
various funding sources in D.C., Philadelphia and New York in the
following 10/19th and 10/20th. I will inform you as they will be
confirmed.

(5) Dear Ken and Lane:
==================

I would be very grateful if you can attend this mtg.

Dear Lane:
==========

Can you bring the people of the divisions of Asia/Pacific and
Latin America of your USAID?

(6) Dear Joe and Louis:
===================

I would also be very happy if you can kindly attend.

(7) Dear Ben:
=========

I am very glad you can attend this mtg. Let's discuss about our
Tokyo
workshop more in details.

(8) Dear Electronic Colleagues:
===========================

Should you be interested in this mtg, pls feel free to attend. Pls
let
me know your attendance so that I can inform Bob Rodrigues for your
security clearance at the entrance.

(9) Dear Tom Keil:
==============

I will attend the session on Information Technology at the national
conference of the Fulbright Association on 10/9th (8:45-10:15 am)
and
the Finnish Embassy reception in that evening from 7 to 9 pm to
give the
publicity materials of our Tampere event to a cultural attache
there
with David Johnson.

Are you attending the conference? If so, let's have a lunch
together
with David to talk about the possibility of connecting Native
American
communities in Arizona with the ones in Montana -- about which I
mentioned in my previous msg.

According to Myron, Kim has already making a very good move on
her
fund raising on this matter.

Dear Myron:
===========

Along this line, a program officer at Sloan Foundation in New
York
(who is a former IBM man) told me today that he would be very
happy to talk about this project. Unfortunately, he will be
out
of his office on 10/18th to 10/22nd, so that Kim cannot meet
him.

Since you are attending Ben's Open House in the evening of
10/25th, can you visit Sloan Foundation on 10/25th or 10/26th
on
behalf of Kim with me?

Best, Tak

Subject: Bill Gates Foundation

Tak:
The lead story on page one of the New York Times today tells about the
Gates Foundation, now the largest in the world. It also lists in the
text
the other large foundations and what they fund. The Gates Foundation is
especially interested in education and health issues in the developing
world. The Global University System and our five pilot projects are
good
fits to the Gates' interests. Please look at the article (nytimes.com).
We need now to take the pilot projects, develop them further, put costs
on
what is needed, and go to the foundations. We need to approach them
carefully and try to do so through external or internal contacts. I
have
some contacts in New York, and I might try to open some doors in
Seattle.
But I think we need to do this systematically and in a coordinated way.
Please let me know when and how I can help in this effort.

Regards,

Dave
