Dear Tak -
Finally got to meet with Dr. Jesus Perez, Dean of the St. Luke's
College of
Medicine who is the designated General Chairman for the proposed
Manila
mini-conference on Global Distance Learning and Tele-Medicine
(which is
actually their main interest and concern). I was out-of-town for
a couple
of weeks (in the south at Silliman University my alma mater).
No, I have
not forgotten about the plans for GUS desire to have the conference
here at
St. Luke's College of Medicine as the venue.
I finally met with Dr. Perez (Jess) and he will be in touch
with you for
the details and planning of the conference. The representative
of Agilent
came to speak with both Dr. Cantos and Dr. Perez while I was away
so Dr.
Perez can discuss this with you. I told him to get in touch with
you and he
can ask all the questions he wants to ask in preparation for the
coming
event. He is willing and able to do this. I will accept your offer
that I
be Deputy Chairman because I can act as liaison between the medical
school
and GUS/ the medical school board of trustees and GUS.
In all your communications with Dr. Perez I would appreciate
receiving
copies of the same so that I am updated with what is happening
- so I can
help whenever I can be of service.
You are extremely busy from what I read from the messages that
are sent to
all your elecgtronic colleagues - that must be what keeps you
young, in
mind, body and spirit. Go to it - you are an inspiration to all
of us. I
pray that you will be able to help us with the funding especially
now that
our country is really having severe economic difficulties and
St. Luke's
College of Medicine, being a new college, does not have the funds
to be of
financial assistance to this proposed conference.

about to happen
