Dear Sidiki:
(1) Many, many thanks for your msg
(ATTACHMENT I below).
I am very delighted to learn that you are making substantial progress with your
ÒDistance Education For Africa (DeAfrica)Ó project.
Pls keep it up.
Dear Emmanuel:
(2) I thank you very much for your encouraging msg (ATTACHMENT II below) in response
to the Reference (a) above.
Dear Prof. Costea:
(3) Thank you very much for your msg
(ATTACHMENT III below) in response to the Reference (a) above.
I. Attending our planning workshop at the Stevens Institute of
Technology:
(4) We submitted a grant application to the US National Science Foundation
about a month ago for holding a workshop at the Stevens Institute of Technology
in Hoboken, New Jersey — hopefully in this coming September. This
is to plan our GKCN/GUS project for ECOWAS countries along the west coast of
Africa.
As said in the Section 7 of the Reference (b) above, the followings will be
discussed and planned with colleagues from selected ECOWAS countries;
1) Construction of socio-economic-energy-environmental simulation models of
each of their countries which can produce output data in time-series format,
and
2) Interlinking them all through Internet to form a global simulation model,
which will perform in parallel and distributed simulation mode.
Should you wish, you may attend this workshop —
it will be a 5-day workshop.
II. Initiating GKCN/GUS/Romania and then Black Sea Region:
(5) As mentioned in the Reference (b) above, we plan to replace each country
model of the World Model of FUGI (Futures of Global Interdependence) global
modeling system (Reference (d) above), which has 194 country models and 6 UN
sector models, with the one constructed by the knowledgeable experts of each
country -- rather than aggregating those countries -- thus increasing its
prediction accuracy.
Although we prefer system dynamics methodology, the simulation methodology of
each country can be any as far as it would produce its computed results in a
time-series table format.
The Millennium Institute <www.millennium-institute.org> in Washington,
DC, is our major partner and specialized in the system dynamics methodology.
They have produced models of many countries, e.g., Nigeria, Ghana, Bangladesh,
etc., etc. They have the so-called Threshold 21st Century model (T21
model <http://tinyurl.com/m7tu9a5>),
which is generic and available at free of charge.
If you are not familiar with the system dynamics methodology, pls visit their web site above, and find out about the T21
model, too. If you are willing to modify it to suit to your country, you
may ask its copy to Dr. Qu of the Millennium
Institute.
(6) You may also consider to invite Prof. Yaman Barlas from Bogazici University in Istanbul, Turkey. The
Reference (c) above was his city-level project. Our GKCN project expects
to have all levels of government, e.g., federal, provincial, municipal, etc.,
etc., for the capacity building of their bureaucrats.
In the future, you may develop the Black Sea Ring <http://preview.tinyurl.com/2stu23>,
with colleagues in nearby countries to interlink their country models each
other.
(7) Lastly, pls notice the Malware warning with the
URL of your web site, which I received and is marked in red below.
Keep in touch.
Best, Tak

Dear Tak
Hope you are doing well with the rest of the team. I am still in Nairobi,
Kenya. Our project is slowly progressing. It does take take.
Just want to share some info with the team.
